As noted, WWE COO and on-air performer Paul “Triple H” Levesque took part in his standard pre-NXT TakeOver media conference call this week to promote Saturday’s “WarGames” live special on the WWE Network, which kicks off four straight nights of WWE events at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California.
During the call, Triple H spoke about NXT developing into a strong third brand for WWE, one that may end up being a stand-alone brand as opposed to a developmental brand with a rabid fan-base. He also touched on the early signs of success for the new NXT U.K. brand.
Featured below are some of the highlights of Triple H’s comments about the aforementioned subjects.
On RAW and/or SmackDown Live Superstars going back to NXT and home-grown talent possibly staying in NXT for good: “I think you can be at a place where you can see main level talent stay in NXT. We are also at the point where you can see some talent that have been on Raw and SmackDown for periods of time, who have had some success or haven’t for whatever reason, who aren’t being utilized, go back to NXT. A talent who doesn’t get a lot of exposure on SmackDown and moves to Raw, it could be a game-changer for them, and all of a sudden they can do something different. I do think it (NXT) is a third brand.”
On yet another brand developing nicely with NXT U.K. and how it’s another landing spot for up-and-coming talent: “I also think with NXT in the U.K., as we move forward, there is an opportunity to work within the system, work in different levels. We’re clearly there now.”
