Global Force Wrestling Owner Jeff Jarrett Has Entered Rehab

Impact Wrestling made the announcement this week that they would be terminating their relationship with Jeff Jarrett after several months of working together. Jarrett reportedly ran into several issues involving the management working for Impact and their parent company Anthem Sports & Entertainment. The company also announced that they would be abandoning the Global Force Wrestling (a company owned by Jarrett) name and merger concept with Impact Wrestling that they began implementing earlier this year. Jarrett had been on a leave of absence from Impact Wrestling before the company confirmed that they fired him earlier this week.
The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion’s unfortunate week did not stop after the announcement from Impact Wrestling. It was also reported this week that Jeff Jarrett was booked for an independent show in Canada and showed up both drunk and late to the event. He reportedly passed out backstage during the show, and when he was woken up, he insisted on going through with his planned match for the evening. Jarrett stumbled and fell over in the ring during the match and appeared to be heavily intoxicated. He later denied passing out backstage, and he told The Tennessean that he would be continuing his career in professional wrestling despite recent events.
According to a new report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Jarrett checked into a rehab facility earlier today. The report was confirmed by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and PWInsider later on, and the original report mentions that the program may be sponsored by WWE. WWE does have a policy stating that they will sponsor rehabilitation for any performer who has worked for them in the company’s history if they need assistance. It appears that he may have checked in due to an excessive drinking issue that he has allegedly been dealing with for most of the year (if not longer). At this point in time, there is currently no word on how long Jeff Jarrett is expected to receive treatment.
