There was a speculation on James Ellsworth’s WWE future after Asuka destroyed him following her loss to SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella at last Sunday night’s WWE Extreme Rules PPV Event. On a recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio Program, Dave Meltzer indicated that WWE has not signed James Ellsworth to any sort of contract. He added that Ellsworth is accepting indie dates all over the country and there was speculation that last Sunday night’s involvement at Extreme Rules could be the end for Ellsworth once again.
However, Bryan Alvarez suggested on the same radio program that perhaps WWE is building up towards a 2-on-1 handicap match at SummerSlam with Asuka facing Carmella and Ellsworth, in a match where Asuka would win The Smackdown Women’s Title. Ellsworth was not offered a contract with his recent return at Money in the Bank. Ellsworth tweeted the following after last Sunday’s Extreme Rules PPV:
#Pittsburgh is where it all started 2 years ago for me when I stepped into the Ring with @BraunStrowman
Always good going back to the arena that will always have a special place in my heart
Can’t wait to hang out there again #ExtremeRules .. pic.twitter.com/09qB7Yyhsh
