5 Star Wrestling Promotion Folds, Company Release Statement & Roster Members React

British independent wrestling company, 5 Star Wrestling has announced this week that the promotion is officially folding, despite the fact that televised events were scheduled.

Despite attempts to finish the remaining shows (which for fans who had purchased tickets can get refunded), 5 Star Wrestling announced on social media those shows would not be taking place.

Unfortunately, the company who runs the events has been shut down which has forced 5 Star Wrestling to be canceled. The promotion had mixed some of the top British wrestlers with world known stars such as Rey Mysterio and was being aired on free TV in the UK.

It is with great sadness that we announce that there will be no more 5 Star Wrestling events.

Fans need to contact their point of purchase for refunds. Pro Wrestling UK Ltd, the company running the events has been shut down. We're sorry to all involved.https://t.co/6ECAzRvSB4

The promotion has been a controversial topic amongst people in the UK wrestling scene, with many people stating that the company didn’t represent British wrestling correctly. 5 Star once offered CM Punk $1million to return to wrestling and promised a 128-man tournament, which was then rescheduled for February 2018, but never took place.

Despite the fact it was a controversial company, 5 Star Wrestling was offering wrestlers regular paid work and it is always a shame to see a promotion fold, a sentiment that was shared by several members of the 5 Star roster who have commented on the situation.

For what it’s worth, my thoughts on 5 Star: Everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinion on the company itself, but it’s never a positive for talent to lose out on work. Personally, I had fun on the shows, got to hang out with friends & got paid. Onwards and upwards 🙂👌

Disappointing for me personally to hear the news from @5StarWrestling. People will have their own opinions, but for me this early in my career to have the opportunity to step in the ring with some of the biggest names in wrestling & top UK talent was a great learning experience! pic.twitter.com/FQLRxRyszn
